Don't Gloat - Toast Winners
Wednesday| April 26th
....waiting on the judges.
Tuesday | April 25th
For those of you who were here yesterday and didn't post a screenshot of your TOAST and his POST/PUBLISH, be sure to do that by the end of the day so I can let the counselors judge them. I will announce the winners on Wed/Thurs. Some were ridiculous, funny, and...well...interesting. But, it's not my call!
We are done with the toast project, please resume your regular Photoshop projects.
Monday | April 24th
We have THREE WEEKS of work left. I will give you the last week off. I have been extra picky about you staying on task and have been deducting -15 points days in which you fail to stay on task. Keep in mind, if I deduct the points it's because you were off-task more than one time during the period. Work for THREE WEEKS - NO EXCEPTIONS.
MONDAY SPECIAL PROJECT/CONTEST: Stop what you are currently doing for a second and do something thoughtful and silly with a slice of toast. Go online and find a slice of toast. Use Photoshop to create something silly and tie it in with a silly title. You will take a screenshot of your toast and post it to your blog! We will have a contest for the the top 5 pieces (of all classes) of toast that are clever (voted on a by another teacher).
Hope your Easter break was a hit!
Monday | April 17th
-Four weeks of work left (last week we will take off)
-Remember the things discussed in last weeks updates.
Update the Blog
Thursday | April 12th
-We are on a short week so update the blogs today.
-At the end of the period, stay in your seat, don't navigate to the door.
-That is all.
Bell to Bell
Monday | April 10th
We will be working for the next five weeks and as mentioned last week, I am not going to tolerate slacking. You are to remember some important things about this class:
BELL to BELL: Students have five minutes from the tardy bell to be fully engaged and working. This doesn't mean you get the first five minutes to chit-chat, it means that you have five minutes to sign in, read the updates page, and get to work. Likewise, the last five minutes of class is when you find a good stopping place, save your work, take a screenshot, and update your blog. It doesn't mean you have the last five minutes to chit-chat and hang. Here is the bell schedule in case you forgot:
CELL PHONES: This is a by-product toward sandbagging. Some try to keep their cell phone close to their body (hidden) while doing whatever it is they are not supposed to be doing (game, social media, text) as if I don't notice. Some even hold the phone in one hand while they move their mouse around the screen. Many of you don't realize that I am standing right behind you or watching your work from my computer.
BLOG-SCREENSHOTS: Your screenshots must include PROOF of WORK for EACH day of school! A screenshot of a video, will not work. Likewise, a series of screenshots that indicate sandbagging will not be tolerated. It doesn't take long to work through the videos so if you are spending weeks on an ACA project your sandbagging.
GRADING POLICY REVISION: Starting Monday April 10th there will be a 15 point deduction for:
REQUIRED: Sign this Acknowledgment
Evaluation next week
Monday | April 3rd
Due to the fact that we only have eight (8) working weeks we will have our first evaluation next week (week 4.4). Then we will have four (4) weeks until the final evaluation.
I am going to be extra picky about you staying on task throughout the last part of the year. Every year it seems some students get the idea that the year is over, before it's over. We will get the LAST week of the year off, but until then WORK - WORK - WORK!!!
Can I Help w/ Prom?
Thursday | March 30th
Every year I get asked this question and my response is: "only with a personal day".
Eight more weeks
Monday | March 27th
Only eight more weeks of school (counting finals week) with only seven weeks counting towards this class. We will be working until week 4.8 in which we will close out the year.
So...yeah we are going to be busy for the rest of the year. With that said I am really going to be on your case about staying ON TASK. Get off those cell phones and quit sandbagging. Work, work, work. BTW, if you are still on restoring old photos...move on to the next project. I mentioned this last week.

Moving On: If you are on still on 1.2 Restoring Photos you need to move on to 1.3 Awesome Event. We will be working until finals week, so keep working hard!
Blogs & Breaks
Friday | March 9th
Blogs: Get the blogs up for Week 3.9
Break: Happy Spring Break, take the period off
Blogs & Substitute
Friday | March 3rd
Blogs: Get the blogs up for Week 3.8
Absence: I will be gone Friday to help other teachers in our region with technology (don't act like your not impressed), and I will be gone Mon/Tue for a BPA function.
Personal Days & Hall Passes: There will be a slight change in Personal Day and Hall Pass policy on these days. If you are taking a personal day or hall pass you must go to the substitute and write in your request on a log that I have given him/her. I will log them into the computer when I return on Wednesday. The device that I use to cast the Hall Pass and Personal Days to the TV is 'wonking' out so I am awaiting a replacement.
I need everyone to verify that they have read this. Failure to do so will result in a loss of 20 points on your blog post for Week 3.8. Click here to verify.
No YouTube (except on personal days)
Tuesday | February 28th
Let's refresh our memory regarding YouTube. Students are not allowed to watch (or listen) to YouTube except on personal days. If you don't have a device to listen to (playlist) then that's too bad.
There are two reason for my YouTube restrictions:
1. YouTube hogs bandwidth as does other streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, etc. We only have a limited amount of bandwidth to share. It would be like ordering a pizza and telling everyone that they can have two slices and you grab more than your two. There is only so much Pizza and someone is cut short because of your selfishness.
2. Students who watch or listen to YouTube while working, get sucked into the YouTube black hole and forget that they are actually supposed to be working. Students who "listen" to YouTube waste time looking for the next song/video they want to listen to. It's a vicious cycle. One last thing: I want you to verify that you read this post by clicking here.
Monday | February 27th
Hard to believe that we have two weeks left until the end of the nine weeks. Staying on task from BELL to BELL is extremely important. We touched on this last week but I need to be sure we all understand what that means.
Hall Passes & Personal Days
Tuesday | February 21st
I have added the ability for you to see the Hall Pass and Personal Day requests you have made. Click on Attendance Form and at the top of the form you will see a clickable link. This list will automatically update each time you take a personal day/hall pass!
Check out this video on how to use it: View Personal Days & Hall Passes
BTW - Some of you didn't follow the instructions or read the update yesterday regarding bell to bell, so please review the update for Monday 02/20!
Bell to Bell
Monday | February 20th
Spring break is three weeks away. Yay.
Let's recap what Bell to Bell (5 minutes in/out) means. At the start of each period you have five minutes to get logged in and have everything up and running to work on your projects. Then you will work until the last five minutes of class. It is during the LAST FIVE MINUTES of class that you take your screenshot, save your work, update your blog, etc. The last five minutes isn't for: hangin' out, chillin', or make our way to the door time.
Tuesday | February 14th
Happy Valentines Day...I guess. I will try to get the evaluations back to you Today as well as get the 3.5 Blogs graded as well. Many of you have been doing a GREAT job in Photoshop, so thank you for your efforts!
Monday | February 6th
Blogs should be graded by the end of the day on Monday. Later this week, we will complete the self-assessment form for the Mid-Term Evaluation. For those of you working on restoration, remember to use all the tools at your disposal and don't just use the healing brush.
4th Period: Please put your signed pre-enrollment form in the inbox next to my desk.

Blog Grades: Zero vs. N/A
Tuesday | January 31st
You Received a Zero: If you received an F (or a zero) that means you either didn't have a blog post for that week or it wasn't sufficient/correct. You must have FIVE (5) screenshots per week and/or placeholders (No Screenshot) with LEGITIMATE reason for not having a screenshot as a caption.
You don't see a grade for that week: For those who have fewer than three screenshots per week but you do have legitimate screenshots you will earn an N/A. This means that you don't get a grade either way. It doesn't hurt and it doesn't help. In fact you won't even see it in Wengage. This also means that if the internet was down and you took two personal days, that counts as three.
Evaluations: are coming up at the end of Week 3.5 and ICYMI, we are in Week 3.4 now.
Hall Pass: Remember once you are out of Hall Passes you are out. You can cash in a Personal Day for a Hall Pass, but if you are out of Personal Days then you are out of luck.
A New Week!
Monday | January 30th
Getting close to the midway point for nine weeks, before we know it we will begin counting down for Spring Break.
*Last weeks blogs (Week 3.3) will be graded by the end of the day. Most students are in the middle of
*Restoring Photos: Take your time and apply the restorations properly. Taking your time however, doesn't mean visiting or being distracted with every other click of the mouse.
Friday | January 27th
Get those blogs updated! Remember when you use the "No Screenshot" you must put the Day and reason for no screenshot in the caption.
Back to Work
Wednesday | January 25th
Today is January 25th, one month since Christmas. Time flies.
Tuesday Screenshot: Make sure you add the No Screenshot placeholder with a caption indicated that we had no internet.
Personal Days: Some of you are wasting personal days early, which is like using all of your timeouts the first minute of a game. This is the longest stretch of the year. Tsk Tsk.
Monday | January 23rd
Blogs: I am not going to tolerate missing screenshots because you forgot. If you are missing 3 screenshots because you were absent or on a personal day, you will receive and N/A for that week. This will exclude that week from your grade.
Folder Management/Saving Work: Pay attention to where you are saving your files and your work. Make sure you are pointing the proper folder etc. If you lose your work because you can't find it, that's on you, so you will need to re-complete the work.
Friday | January 20th
Blogs: Get the blogs up for Week 3.2. I will get Week 3.1 graded by Friday and will get Week 3.2 graded by the end of the day Monday.
Personal Days: I have decided to open up the personal days so you can begin using them. I do however need to make a small tweak to the rules to what you are doing on a personal day: First if you are going somewhere, the area MUST BE SUPERVISED. Secondly, other people are trying to work, so don't take buddy breaks and be a distraction to everyone else in the room. The room is to remain QUIET.
MONDAY - Rob Schwartz in the House
Monday | January 17th
Please wait for further instructions as Rob Schwartz author of the videos in ACATP will be here to support us.
*BLOGS: Remember to ensure your blog is updated if you were not here on Friday.
Wednesday | January 11th
Photoshop: It is time to start in Photoshop! I will walk you through the initial process at the start of the period. Do not work too fast, take time to LEARN the steps. Likewise, don't work too slow (sandbagging). I will keeping a close eye on sandbaggers & time wasters.
Blogs: You will start taking a screenshot of where you finished each day starting THIS WEEK (Week 3.1). Since we did not complete any work on Mon and Tues of this week you will this placeholder but be sure to add Mon and Tue to the caption!
Hall Passes: From this point on students will log their Hall Passes. Remember you get three for the entire semester. Don't waste them on frivolus reasons.
Yearbook Promo: The yearbook is offering a special between January 16th-20th, you can purchase a yearbook for $45! Contact your yearbook staff or see Mrs. Bennett for more details.
